Chief (spoken in the record as "Chief Polly") recognized several members of the Tiffin Police Department for 2025 at the Feb. 2 council meeting. Recipients included Sergeant Jared Watson, Officer Alec Traxler, Detective/Officer Marcus Summers and Michael Moore for perfect attendance; Sergeant Joe Feld for the department's leadership award for taking ownership of continuing professional training compliance; Marcus Summers as Officer of the Year; Patty McIntyre as Dispatcher of the Year; and Beth Dell as Civilian Employee of the Year.
The chief stressed the importance of availability, consistency and professional training, saying these qualities "are one of the most important qualities any employee can possess" and praising recipients for safeguarding certifications and public safety. Sergeant Feld was singled out for organizing and ensuring accurate submission of state-mandated continuing professional training hours, work the chief said "safeguard[s] our officers' ability to serve our community." The awards presentation acknowledged both on-duty achievements and behind-the-scenes contributions such as evidence custody, administration and recruitment efforts.
The council offered congratulations; several award recipients were unable to attend and will receive recognitions directly.
