New manager describes inherited problems
Britney Perry, who identified herself as the property manager and a long-term tenant at Sherwood, said she assumed management in January and has issued work orders, arranged pest control and secured contractors for plumbing repairs. She acknowledged the property had been “neglected” under a previous manager and said owners have given her authority and support to begin repairs. She told council, “I am also not only now a manager, I'm also a tenant,” to underline her personal stake in resolving problems.
Council demands inspections and written plan
Council members pressed for details on smoke alarms and safety readiness after members said they had received calls from frightened residents. Council directed Perry to meet with the fire department and inspections staff before leaving the meeting and asked her to return in two weeks with a written plan of action covering smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, breaker boxes, plumbing repairs, pest control and unit transfers as needed.
Outcome
The council did not revoke the license at the meeting; it required immediate contact with city inspectors and set a two-week follow-up. City staff and council members said they would monitor the property closely and expect tangible progress before the next appearance.
