At the start of the March session the Planning Commission held its annual organization items. The planning director opened nominations for chair and vice chair for terms ending Jan. 31, 2027. A nomination was made for 'Mister Craig' as chair and 'Mister Bobby Hall' as vice chair; subsequent roll-call votes recorded aye votes from Commissioners Hall, Boland, Winnall, Hughes and Hatcher.
The commission adopted its 2026' 27 regular meeting schedule and voted to adopt the Planning Commission rules of order as presented. The commission also acknowledged the Board of Supervisors' 2026 Code of Ethics for appointees following the Board's recent adoption.
Staff presented the Planning Department's 2025 activities summary, highlighting 8 rezonings, 4 conditional use permits, 4 text amendments to the zoning ordinance, two subdivision ordinance amendments, 11 site plans, one major subdivision, and a range of permit and enforcement metrics (including 127 residential permits issued and 33 code enforcement investigations). Commissioners thanked staff for compiling the report and noted increased code enforcement activity late in 2025.
The commission approved the minutes from the Jan. 6, 2026 meeting after several minor corrections were noted.
