Subcommittee approves bill to add two Florida Children’s Initiatives sites

Representative Rosenwald presented HB 933 to add two additional sites to the Florida Children’s Initiatives statutory program: a Bay County site (Panama City area) and a Pompano Beach site (known as Pompano RISE) in Broward County. He described the Children’s Initiatives model, which coordinates education, health, employment and housing services through nonprofit corporations and public transparency requirements.

Barney Bishop (Florida Smart Justice Alliance) and Latoya Shields (Florida Children’s Initiatives) waived in support. Representative Rosenwald waived closing. The clerk reported HB 933 favorably, 16 ayes, 0 nays.

The bill would expand the statutory list of initiative sites to include Bay County and Pompano Beach; implementation will proceed through existing nonprofit coordination structures and subject to public records requirements.
