Council approved a multi-part agenda item on signage from RAGS (a local historical-society initiative), took the first reading of a proposed livestock ordinance and filled a BZA vacancy.
Administration summarized the RAGS signage proposal and noted prior workshop direction; Rich Weinert, speaking for the Historical Society, said the plan includes a hanging historic-village sign beneath the Bailey Park sign, a streetscape sign at Stone and Park, a directional pointer and a 16-foot vintage pole sign for the filling station that would require a variance to the BZA. Council approved the signage proposal and directed administration to work with RAGS to refine designs and pursue any required variances.
On Ordinance 75-3, City Manager said the review identified the city’s existing livestock code as comparatively lax and that the proposed text would require a two-acre minimum to keep livestock, reorder sections to emphasize permitting and remove a provision requiring administration to make a recommendation to council. Council gave introduction and first reading and invited public feedback prior to the second reading.
Administration also reported a vacancy for the Board of Zoning Appeals. The packet listed an application from 'Drew Bridal'; during the meeting council moved to appoint 'Drew Rendell' to fill the vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/2026. The motion passed by voice vote.
