The El Segundo City Council used part of its Feb. 3, 2026 meeting for community-focused presentations.
Council recognized Bill Ruane for long-standing sponsorship of city events, citing donations that supported camp activities, Halloween frolic concessions and an increase of two concerts annually. The council thanked Ruane for his contributions.
Council members also read a proclamation declaring February as Black History Month in El Segundo, saying the month affords an opportunity to learn more about Black heritage and honor leaders who contributed to the nation’s progress and urging citizens to recommit to principles of justice and equality.
The recorded recap did not include direct quotations from council members or the honoree.
