Willmar council accepts Public Works office roof replacement; Jamar Company contract for $88,545 approved

The Willmar City Council on Jan. 28 adopted a resolution accepting a proposal from the Jamar Company to replace the Public Works front office roof for $88,545.

Public Works Director Shane Stefanik said the contractor is already replacing the main shop roof and performing the office roof at the same time yields an $8,975 mobilization savings. Stefanik said the project can be paid from unspent proceeds from Rice Home Medical Sales, which staff reported has a remaining balance of $95,406.79.

Council asked about mold checks and the false/drop ceiling; Stefanik said uncovering the roof work would allow inspection for mold as the work proceeds. The resolution passed by roll call vote, 6-0.

No additional contingencies were adopted; staff noted the work is essential because of water intrusion and sagging ceiling tiles.
