Arlington council confirms four planning commission appointments

The Arlington City Council on Monday confirmed four appointments to the city’s planning commission, filling two vacant seats and two expiring terms.

City staff member Amy Roscoe told the council she and the interview committee interviewed six candidates and recommended Drew Bono to fill the vacated seat held by Nathan Semp, and Riley Nelson to fill the vacated seat held by Tim Abrahamson. Roscoe also recommended Anthony "Tony" Smith and Tricia Baker to fill two expiring terms, both slated to begin April 1 if appointed.

A council member moved to confirm the four nominees; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Officials said the two nominees to fill vacated seats would start as soon as they are appointed, while the two expiring‑term appointments begin April 1.

Roscoe said the interview panel sought a mix of experience and new perspectives. “We did hold interviews of six people…and came out of it with four candidates that we’re bringing forward for you tonight,” she said.

Councilmembers present offered brief congratulations to the appointees. The council did not record a roll‑call vote; approval was by voice vote during the meeting.
