Joshua City approved a fiscal-year 2026 budget amendment on Jan. 12 that reallocates roughly $18,009 into the city’s events line and about $17,992 into a miscellaneous account to fund sidewalk repairs.
The meeting’s presiding speaker introduced the budget review and Speaker 6 explained the amendment: adding the $18,009 from the Chamber line to the events budget and transferring nearly $17,992 to cover sidewalk repair work. After questions about how the funds would be used, Speaker 3 said staff had been directed to begin business outreach events, including a smaller luncheon series to connect city staff and local business leaders.
“We're gonna do a little bit smaller, do 6 businesses and have city staff,” Speaker 3 said when describing the planned outreach format.
Speaker 2 moved to accept the amendment and Speaker 1 seconded. The presiding officer called the vote and declared the motion unanimous.
City officials did not provide line-item schedules for each event at the meeting; staff said they are assembling plans and will return with program details. The amendment also raised the events account to an approximate total of $33,000 in that line, per the summary provided to members.
The budget amendment is effective immediately as adopted at the Jan. 12 meeting. No additional public hearings were scheduled during the session.
