Public works staff delivered a winter-storm debrief describing the city's response and next steps. The presentation said crews put roughly 1,642 miles on vehicles during the storm and that among eight street-department employees they recorded a total of "403.5" (the transcript does not specify the unit for that number). Staff explained the city's salt-to-sand ratio was lower than neighboring Midwest City to preserve inventory — staff said Midwest City used a roughly 3:1 salt-to-sand ratio that would have exhausted Del City's stockpiles — and that Del City followed its standard operating procedure throughout the event.
Public works also reported pretreating about 2,500 feet of sewer line at historically vulnerable locations, which staff said prevented sewer-line freezing incidents during the event. The water treatment plant experienced a sensor freeze in the 4800 block of Reno that caused temporary spillover; crews identified and fixed the problem within about three hours. Staff said only one main water break affected a small area (28th Street from Epperly to Vicky) and service was restored within 45 minutes.
As follow-up, staff proposed posting the SOP and priority maps to the city's website so residents know what to expect during winter events and which priority routes will be serviced first.
