The Dunn County Fair Board voted to increase compensation to the Knights of Columbus to $4,500 and adopted a requirement that all exhibitors wear wristbands to enter the fair without paying at the gate.
Board members said the additional $1,000 (above prior requests) will support an extra staffed gate location to reduce revenue loss from people entering at unmonitored areas. Speaker 2 moved the payment increase and the motion carried after a second and voice vote.
On exhibitor access, the board set an operational rule: exhibitors must wear wristbands to gain entry without paying. Board members discussed practical exceptions and a refund protocol if an exhibitor’s wristband falls off; the agreed procedure is for the exhibitor to present the band at the fair office and receive a refund of the gate fee after verification.
Members also recommended using sturdier plastic wristbands and ordering them early so distribution can begin in time for the fair.
The board recorded the Knights allocation as an action item and asked staff to coordinate details about the additional gate spot and any volunteer needs.
