Panel protects temporary physicians in 'areas of critical need' as licensure language is revised

The sponsors said these temporary, supervised doctors are vetted, insured and subject to board oversight; failing to protect them could leave communities without care.

Members asked whether the PCS creates a pathway to permanent licensure; sponsors said the bill preserves access now while legislative work continues on endorsement language and alignment with broader licensure statutes. The committee voted 16-0 to report the PCS favorably.
