During floor session on Jan. 23 the Utah House adopted a slate of committee reports from law enforcement, judiciary, natural resources and transportation committees and managed calendar business ahead of upcoming debate.
Representative Ryan Wilcox and other committee chairs presented favorable committee reports which the House adopted by voice votes. Representative Sam Tuscher successfully moved to lift and place base budget bills HB 1 (public education), HB 5 (natural resources), HB 6 (criminal justice) and HB 7 (social services) at the top of the third-reading calendar for consideration later in the week.
The House Rules Committee report was adopted and multiple bills were assigned to standing committees for hearings and markup. Representative Tuscher later moved to lift second substitute SB 134 and assign it to the Business and Labor Committee; that motion also passed by voice vote. The chamber concluded by adjourning until Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m.
Ending: Lawmakers will reconvene on the scheduled date to take up the circled and calendared items, including the base budget bills.
