The Utah House Judiciary Committee took several procedural and substantive actions during the session:
- HB 82 (Judgment information amendments): Representative McPherson explained that counties and lien companies have been recording only the last four digits of Social Security numbers for judgment liens; the committee favored the bill to align statute with practice and voted to favorably recommend HB 82 to the House floor on a unanimous voice vote.
- HB 20 (Correctional facility capacity amendments): Representative Lisonbee presented a first substitute to adjust technical fiscal-analyst items and allow account funds to be used for community corrections centers. The committee adopted the substitute and favorably recommended the bill to the House floor by voice vote.
- HB 86 (Restricted persons): Representative Maga moved to lift the bill and refer it to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee; the committee voted unanimously to refer the bill.
Committee members described the proceedings as efficient; where substitutes were adopted the items were forwarded to the House for further consideration. Several of the items passed or were advanced unanimously in committee.
