Drew Bourne of CHRISTUS Health told the Anderson County Commissioner’s Court on Dec. 30 that the health system is offering three walkthrough tours of its new emergency hospital and invited commissioners to attend.
"They're an opportunity for you to come, take a tour," Bourne said, giving dates of Jan. 7 and Jan. 14 and specific time slots for the visits. He said the facility will bring "a new level of health care to Anderson County and Palestine." Bourne also said the system will hold an official grand opening at the end of January.
County officials asked staff to coordinate attendance and to determine whether a formal meeting notice would be required if a quorum of the court would attend. The judge and commissioners said they would work with county staff to arrange who could go and to confirm whether posting is necessary.
The invitation was informational; no formal action or county funding request was taken at the meeting. Bourne said the tours will be guided and presented as an opportunity for commissioners to see the facility and understand services planned for the region.
The county will coordinate schedules with CHRISTUS staff and post any required notices if a quorum will be present.
