Morrow County commissioners opened a public hearing on the county's draft comprehensive land use plan during their Jan. 28 meeting, acknowledging staff and volunteers who helped shape the update.
An entry on the record identified Charlene Sparks as "president," and board members thanked Brent and other community participants for their work on the document. An unidentified commissioner who thanked the planning team said the outreach effort attracted "probably at least 5 to 600 opinions when it was all said and done," and praised OSU Extension for running surveys and helping guide the process.
The updated future land use map includes newly designated areas intended to ease industrial expansion along a corridor mentioned in the hearing. A county presenter noted that the map changes mean "any industrial expansion will be easier to have happen because it's already suggested on the map," signaling the county's interest in making sites development-ready.
Speakers in the hearing also discussed recent township action regarding a zoning commission and referenced prior reviews that cited national building codes. One participant noted that a previous version had referenced multiple national building-code sections that were difficult for the public to interpret.
The hearing record showed no final vote on the plan at the Jan. 28 meeting; commissioners recessed following discussion and did not indicate a next meeting or final adoption date on the record.
