Delaware County commissioners voted to adopt Ordinance 2025-32 on Feb. 2, approving the vacation of a bridge and the road north of it on 200 West just north of 400 South by Corinth Christian Church.
A commissioner explained that during a review last year the bridge appeared eligible for vacation, but the then-owner (Mr. Miller) died and his family asked the county to delay action until the property sold. The property transferred to a single owner on Jan. 22, and county staff said they spoke with the new owners, the Coopers, who intend to leave the land in agricultural use and consented to the vacation. The owners also expressed a desire to install a gate on the south side of the bridge to discourage illegal dumping.
After the discussion a motion to adopt Ordinance 2025-32 was made and carried on roll call.
The ordinance formally vacates the specified county right-of-way and directs staff to implement the change in the county records. Commissioners did not identify additional conditions or financial obligations in the meeting record; staff said the farm’s current cash-rent tenant will continue to operate on the property.
