The Lake Havasu MPO executive board on Oct. 28 approved an administrative amendment to the FY26–30 Transportation Improvement Program to add transit vehicle purchases and a vehicle technology project.
Ms. Lodzinski described the amendment as removing a prior operational expense project (LHT27301) and adding Federal Transit Administration vehicle purchases: three vehicles in fiscal year 2027 and two vehicles in fiscal year 2028. She said each vehicle is budgeted at $200,000 with a $30,000 local match and that the purchases use 5307 funds. "Correct," she said when a member asked for confirmation that five vehicles were planned.
Board members asked whether the vehicles were replacements or additions and what would happen to retired vehicles. Ms. Lodzinski said she would check with transit to confirm whether vehicles are replacements or additions. The discussion noted that surplus vehicles typically go through government surplus or public auction, and that some transfers between agencies using 5307 dollars are possible depending on the original funding mechanism.
Supervisor Borelli moved to approve the administrative TIP amendment number 4; Council Member Campbell seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Board members noted that final vehicle purchases may also require city council action and that the TIP amendment documents planned funding and timing but does not itself execute vehicle procurement.
