Mr. Steinberger provided project updates for state transportation work in the region and answered member questions on median visibility and safety.
He said the raised median at South Tolerability and Price Road "will be completed in about a week and a half" and that he will deliver safety data to the chair as requested. Pavement preservation work from the California border to Lake Havasu will finish after the Labor Day weekend, and the West Cayman system interchange project has approximately a year and a half remaining with two new bridges and ongoing earthwork and drainage on US‑93.
Board members raised concerns about nighttime visibility of the new raised median and apparent tire scuff marks. Mr. Steinberger said reflectors are typically placed at the bullnose of medians near intersections and that he would follow up with the construction team to explore additional visibility measures. Councilmember Diaz relayed constituent concerns that medians were placed over the yellow line and asked whether medians could have been set 18–24 inches inward; Mr. Steinberger said the design follows the two‑way left‑turn lane alignment to avoid encouraging speeding and agreed to re‑check with the construction team.
Next steps: Mr. Steinberger will send the requested safety data and consult the construction team about additional visibility measures.
