Mister Steinberger, the ADOT district representative, briefed the MPO on current project statuses and maintenance concerns.
He said the raised median project on SR‑95 has completed field work and is in punch‑list closeout. "That is our standard for medians, which will, paint the, curved portion of the medians at the intersections yellow and put, reflective markers on those. They will go 15 feet, down the main line of SR 95," he said. Board members confirmed that reflectors and paint will be on the punch list to finish.
Steinberger also reported two I‑40 pavement preservation projects from the California border to the SR‑95 TI at Exit 9 are complete. West Kingman TI is about 50% complete, with an estimated year‑and‑a‑half remaining; contractors are currently performing blasting at night and bridge work at Clutch Canyon and White Cliffs Road.
Board members raised concerns about debris and tires along Highway 95 and asked what ADOT is doing. Steinberger said the current litter contract picks up every other week and he can work with maintenance staff to supplement pickups if debris increases. Members also reported a rough, grooved ride on a preserved section of I‑40; Steinberger explained the work was "diamond grinding" done where pavement did not meet ADOT smoothness specifications and committed to inspect and pursue corrections if the ride is excessively noisy or rough.
The board thanked Steinberger for the update.
