Carroll County approves bids for diamond grinding on M‑14 and M‑68 and a Sycamore Avenue box‑culvert replacement

County secondary‑roads staff detailed two linked diamond‑grinding projects on M‑14 and M‑68, intended to grind and seal the pavement surface over roughly 6.5 miles, followed by joint sealing and pavement marking. Staff estimated the combined cost of the two projects at around $800,000 and said the county plans a Feb. 25 bid letting.

On the same agenda, staff described a bridge replacement on Sycamore Avenue (between 130th and 150th, southwest of Lanesboro) that will use a concrete box culvert. Staff explained the box footprint, channel alignment considerations and the plan to shift the box slightly south to avoid the old abutment footprint; the box dimension cited was 10 by 16 feet, consistent with a prior nearby installation.

Supervisors approved a motion to advertise for bids on the two diamond‑grinding projects in a single contract and separately approved the bid notice for the Sycamore Avenue box‑culvert replacement. Staff said the projects will use local funds and that the M‑68 scope covered about one mile north of route 141; the contract will specify working‑day completion (about 35 working days after a late start date following July 4).
