Board approves routine hires, licenses and claims; major purchases deferred

At its Dec. 8 meeting the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors handled a slate of routine personnel and administrative items, approved several licenses and claims, and postponed some larger procurement questions.

Early on the board approved the minutes from the Dec. 1 meeting by voice vote. The board approved hiring James Hopton as a PRN (as-needed) EMT; supervisors noted this is a non-benefit position intended to cover occasional shifts. Environmental Health presented disposal system (septic) contractor license requests for named applicants; the board approved the licenses and said bonds and contractor paperwork would be attached.

The board considered and procedurally allowed and disallowed family farm credit applications (a statutory, annual administrative task) and reappointed members to the Jefferson County Conservation Board. The board also approved a salary increase for a position referenced on the record and approved county claims totaling $152,396.19.
