Board approves courthouse porch remodel and deposit

The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors voted to accept a contractor estimate to repair and remodel the porch at the county attorney’s office. The chair read the estimate: total cost $15,096.80 and a requested 50% deposit of $7,548, with the remaining balance due on completion. Maintenance staff said the work would require a short shutdown (about three days) and proposed starting on the Monday before Veterans Day to avoid weekday conflicts. The motion to accept the estimate was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
