Hawthorne City launched its first official restaurant week, Hawthorne Eats, this week, with local eateries offering special menus and promotions aimed at drawing residents into city restaurants.
Cedric Walker, a reporter for HCTV, opened the segment saying, "It's a kickoff for Hawthorne's first official restaurant week," and reported that Medici's Pizza hosted a VIP experience to start the celebration.
Organizers and participants said the week is intended to spotlight small businesses and Hawthorne's dining culture. Unidentified Speaker 2 said the kickoff "gives the other restaurants an opportunity to see what we're gonna be doing for them this week" and emphasized that it lets the community see which restaurants will be available throughout the week.
Participating restaurants announced weekday specials. Unidentified Speaker 2 said, "we'll be having a special $10 for pizza and, medium drinks" from Monday through Friday for the duration of the event. The promotion is intended to encourage residents to dine in Hawthorne, highlight affordable options and drive foot traffic to local establishments.
Speakers also framed the week as a way to celebrate the city's cultural diversity and family-friendly dining. Unidentified Speaker 4, describing extensive travel, called Hawthorne "one of the most beautiful and diverse cities" and recommended trying local food to celebrate that diversity. Unidentified Speaker 5 said restaurant week "gives so many families and just people places to go and have fresh food. But not only fresh food, quality food."
Hawthorne Eats runs Monday through Friday this week and includes a lineup of participating restaurants offering featured $10 specials. Reporting for HCTV, Cedric Walker.
