County budget office honored; commissioners approve multiple contracts and budget amendments

Denton County Commissioners Court on Jan. 27 recognized the county budget office for receiving the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and a special recognition for long-range financial operating plans. Budget director Alejandra and staff described the award and the county's emphasis on multi-year fiscal planning.

Following the recognition, the court approved a series of procurement and budget actions, including:

• Renewal of janitorial services RFP 222-2726 to CTJ Maintenance Inc. (motion approved).

• Award for emulsified asphalt (ITB 25-2890) and related road materials contracts (motion approved).

• Contract for asbestos abatement at Briarwood with Priority Environmental Services for approximately $196,700 (approved by motion).

• Approval to contract with general contractors for administrative courthouse glass door replacement in the amount of $427,080.83 through the TIPS cooperative contract.

• Authorization to advertise RFP 25-2891 for owner's representative services for Denton County civil courts and courthouse remodel projects and appointment of an evaluation committee.

Budget amendments approved included a transfer of $291,557 to cover overtime for county jail payroll for three pay periods (item 7b), a $95,000 transfer for the Workday success plan subscription (7c), and a rollover of $11,197,515 for committed FY2025 purchase orders not expended by year-end (7d). Several smaller procurement items and renewals also carried.

All listed motions were approved by voice vote during the meeting. County staff said the procurement and budget actions support ongoing facility maintenance and the county's multi-year financial planning approach.
