Benefits and Insurance Committee reappoints Mike Curtis to county employee seat

Rutherford County — The Benefits and Insurance Committee reappointed Mike Curtis to the county general employee member seat during its January 2026 meeting, the committee announced after a roll-call vote that the chair characterized as unanimous.

Committee members heard three applicants in alphabetical order. Jared Bonner described his work in planning and engineering with the county; Hillary Brown, an Admin Support II in the archives, described seven-and-a-half years of county service and her experience advocating for a medically complex child; and Mike Curtis, who identified himself as the GIS manager and a 36-year county employee, asked to be reappointed.

Curtis said, "I'm the person rolling off, and I would wanted to stay on with the committee and continue my good work that I've done with you all." After members narrowed the field to two finalists, staff conducted a roll-call vote and the chair announced Curtis' reappointment.

The committee thanked the other applicants and encouraged them to apply for future openings. The committee did not take additional action on the appointment beyond the vote.

The committee's next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 26, 2026.
