Speaker 2 told the Board of Zoning Appeals that several sections of the board’s rules of procedure listed outdated locations and needed correction, saying, “the Board of Zoning Appeals will be in the Pulaski County building department, which is at 125 South Riverside Drive. And since that office has moved since then to 112 East Main Street, Room 212, which is the courthouse.” Speaker 2 also noted the rules still listed the Pulaski County Highway Garage as the meeting place and asked that both addresses be updated to the courthouse location.
Speaker 1 said the change was clerical and moved to suspend the board’s normal reading requirements so the address updates could be made without the usual first and second readings. The motion to suspend the readings was seconded and passed by voice vote. Speaker 1 then moved to update the rules of procedure to replace the old building-department and meeting-room addresses with the current courthouse address; that motion was seconded and also passed by voice vote.
Speaker 2 asked the board’s attorney to review cited Indiana code language and any ordinance cross-references before broader procedural changes are adopted, noting that some language may require adjustment by the Area Plan Commission (APC). Speaker 1 asked for clearer, more detailed hearing procedures for appeals versus variance hearings to avoid confusion in future cases.
Next steps: the attorney will verify statutory references and hearing-notice language and the corrected meeting location will be republished. The board instructed staff to advertise rule changes and confirm room numbering for the courthouse meeting location before the next scheduled meeting.
