District staff reported a series of non‑general‑fund awards and pilots intended to preserve services while the district addresses structural revenue shortfalls.
Chia Celli told the board that the Department of Land Conservation and Development awarded a $140,000 grant to support park improvements at the Jennings Lodge campus. She said that, combined with other awards, the district now has about $1,950,000 in grant funds for the project, which staff estimates will cover more than 75 percent of construction costs.
Separately, Celli said the Milwaukee Community Center Foundation has funded an additional day of service at the Milwaukee Community Center and Impact Northwest is providing pilot transportation up to three days per week using existing Clackamas County grant funds; Celli said no NCPRD general funds are required for that pilot through June 30.
Staff credited persistent grant writing and partnership work for the awards and thanked planner Alex Gilbertson for refiling and strengthening one application that led to the latest DLCD award.
