Planning board grants permanent special‑use permit to Energy Catalyst Technologies, schedules hearing

Representatives for Energy Catalyst Technologies at 611 13th Street returned to the planning board after securing five variances from the Zoning Board of Appeals. Brian Ciperley of Verity Engineering said the applicant had submitted responses to staff comments and that he did not view remaining staff recommendations as reasons to change the proposal.

Planning staff clarified that the application had been declared complete previously but that a hearing had not been scheduled; the board then scheduled a hearing for Feb. 17, issued a negative declaration (unlisted action) under SEQR/"Seeker" in prior action, and later moved to grant the special‑use permit on a permanent basis. The motion for a permanent SUP was seconded and carried unanimously.

What’s next: The project will proceed to the hearing process for the public record, and the applicant will follow whatever conditions staff and the board include in their final findings.
