CDA Extreme seeks special permit to convert light-industry space to recreational use; board sets March 19 hearing

CDA Extreme, a competitive‑cheer organization, appeared before the Planning Board seeking a special permit and site-plan approval to operate in roughly 12,000 square feet of an existing building. Applicant Joycelyn described program operations — classes and team practices with up to 40–50 athletes on site and 6–7 staff during peak sessions — and said athletes come dressed and the operation is not child care.

Board questions focused on missing materials: a formal site plan, clarification of parking supply for peak events, potable water availability and whether the water system requires Department of Health review. Staff noted building‑code issues (fire separation, incomplete wall), certificates of occupancy and signage were unresolved. The board agreed to place the application on the March 19 agenda and conditioned the scheduling on receipt of a complete site plan, a narrative satisfying special‑permit criteria, parking analysis and required building‑department submittals.
