The Board of Assessors met on Jan. 22, 2026, and approved the minutes of the Dec. 11, 2025 meeting by unanimous consent. Speaker 3 moved to accept the minutes and Speaker 1 seconded the motion.
At the first meeting of the calendar year the board held nominations for chair. Speaker 3 said, "I'm going to nominate Charles LeBlanc." Speaker 2 also nominated Charles LeBlanc; Speaker 1 closed nominations, called for a voice vote and said "Aye," after which the nomination was recorded as passed. The nominee was not present; Speaker 2 said they will reach out to confirm whether LeBlanc will accept the position.
Members spent a brief period on routine, cyclical items for the start of the year. Speaker 2 said, "Right now, I'm working on the abatement period for real estate and personal property. The deadline is February 1st," and Speaker 1 added, "I think that's on a weekend, so it... would be that following Monday." No formal action on abatement procedures was recorded at the meeting.
Speaker 1 moved to enter an executive session "under General Law 30A, Section 21" and added that the board would not return to open session upon adjournment; Speaker 3 seconded the motion. Board members then prepared to proceed into executive session.
The meeting record shows the board handled routine organizational business and moved to executive session; Speaker 2 will contact the nominee to confirm whether Charles LeBlanc will accept the chair role.
