Maryland Federation of Art asks delegates to promote local artists, highlights Paint Annapolis (May 31–June 5)

Annapolis, Jan. 30 — Patrice Drago, executive director of the Maryland Federation of Art, told the Anne Arundel delegation that MFA engages hundreds of local artists and seeks delegates' help promoting arts events and display space in public areas.

Drago said MFA has "almost 600 members nationwide" with 460 in Maryland and "202 are Anne Arundel County residents." She described Paint Annapolis as "the premier event," a weeklong outdoor painting festival with the 2026 schedule the week of May 31 through June 5. Drago also described MFA's annual fundraiser: a ticketed event ($185 admits two) where attendees take home a donated work of art equal to or greater than the ticket value.

Delegates asked practical questions about display space in the State House tunnel and invited MFA to work with staff. Chairman Pruski and the secretary said staff would follow up to share MFA materials with delegates and consider the suggestion to expand exhibits in public hallways. Drago said she would send the delegation additional information ahead of Maryland Arts Day.
