Committee reviews resolution urging IOC to include women's Nordic combined; final language deferred

A legislator introduced a nonbinding resolution asking the International Olympic Committee to include women's Nordic combined competition and to require gender-equitable inclusion for any future sports added to the Olympic program.

The sponsor told the committee the resolution highlights athletes who have excelled in women’s Nordic combined in non-Olympic competition and called for the IOC to correct the exclusion at the 2026 Winter Games. Committee members suggested two additions: an whereas clause honoring recent Vermont women who medaled in winter sports, and a resolve asking that any future competitions be added only with gender equity assured.
