Committee asks Montgomery College and MCPS for non‑recommended reductions; returns in late February

At the close of the session the committee directed county staff to request lists of non‑recommended reductions from Montgomery College and MCPS so councilmembers can evaluate priorities against the county executive's affordability guidance.

County staff (Keith Levchenko) summarized the executive's changes to the board proposals and said the combined reductions and deferrals amount to roughly $652,000,000 of the board's increase, of which about $156,000,000 is undesignated. Committee members asked agencies to propose how they would reach those reductions (specific projects to defer or reclassify), and staff said the timeline aims for revised lists and further discussion by a follow‑up session on or around Feb. 23, 2026.

No formal votes were taken; the work was procedural and preparatory for CIP reconciliation.
