During the citizens comment portion of the Jan. 27 meeting, Kelly Austin of the Marshall Ranch neighborhood described recent public-safety concerns and asked the council to consider installing blue lighted cameras in cul-de-sacs that feed into a local elementary school.
Austin said the neighborhood has experienced two shootings — one on Friday and another the night before her appearance — and described parking and traffic behavior that creates safety hazards, adding that nonresidents are frequenting the area and children are at risk. “We would like blue lighted cameras,” she said, and described the situation as “total chaos.”
The city manager/clerk agreed to have someone from the police department meet with Austin to discuss the reports and possible next steps. The council did not take formal action at the meeting beyond requesting staff follow up with the resident.
The council adjourned with no additional business.
