Board roundup: contracts ratified, employment agreement approved, budget tweaks and AFSCME labor deal approved

The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners approved several formal actions during the Jan. 27 meeting in addition to adopting the Parks Plan:

- Ratify post-execution contracts (period 12/12/2025 to Jan. 2026): Board moved and approved a motion to ratify contracts on the post-execution list in accordance with the county contracting policy.

- Employment agreement for deputy county administrator: Board voted to approve the employment agreement as presented.

- Budget adjustments for FY2025 and FY2026: Board approved amendments to include FY25 and FY26 adjustments as listed in the attached schedule.

- Authorization to enter land acquisition and settlement (Parks): After a closed-session negotiation under OMA section 8(d), the board authorized Parks Director Jason Shamblyn to finalize a land acquisition with Spring Lake Township contingent on corporate counsel and county administrator approval.

- AFSCME collective bargaining agreement (Public Health) and contract extension with AFSCME CMH: The board ratified the AFSCME agreement with Public Health and later approved an extension for AFSCME CMH according to negotiated terms; both motions passed by roll call.

Roll calls recorded affirmative votes for each motion; the clerk called the roll for multiple items and the motions carried.
