Commission approves minutes, elects officers and closes meeting

In routine business, the Small Business Commission approved the Dec. 8, 2025 draft meeting minutes, elected President Cynthia Huey to another one-year term and Commissioner William Ortiz Cartagena as vice president, and heard director and commissioner reports before adjourning.

The directors'report included an OEWD announcement of a Storefront Opportunity Grant to activate vacant commercial spaces in targeted neighborhoods (Excelsior, Tenderloin, Visitacion Valley) and a reminder that the grant portal closes Feb. 13. Commissioners shared neighborhood updates on new businesses, corridor coordination, and concerns about street and utility project timing that affects small merchants.
