At its Jan. 6, 2026 meeting, the Anderson City Board of Public Works heard three bids for 2026 diesel fuel for the city garage and voted to take the proposals under advisement.
A staff member presented bids from Gresham Petroleum Company (Fort Plain), Petroleum Traders Corporation (Fort Wayne) and Jackson Oil and Solvents (Indianapolis). The staff reading showed Gresham listing a rack average of $2.152 for No. 1 diesel and $3.2011 for No. 2 diesel; Petroleum Traders listed the two rack averages in the opposite order ($3.2011 for No. 1 and $2.152 for No. 2); Jackson Oil listed No. 1 at $3.3375 and No. 2 at $2.162, with vendor add‑ons for delivery and tank wagon noted for each vendor.
Board members flagged the apparent inversion in the first two bids during discussion. Chair said, "I think somebody's made a mistake there," prompting the motion to take the three bids under advisement for staff review. The board approved the motion by voice vote.
The board did not make an award at the meeting; members directed staff to review the bid figures and return with clarification. The bids were presented during the Light & Power portion of the agenda and will be revisited once staff confirms the correct rack averages and add‑on charges.
