Board approves $879,975 pump purchase from sole vendor for Dewey Street lift station

The Anderson City Board of Public Works approved a $879,975 purchase of pumps for the Dewey Street lift station at its Jan. 6 meeting.

The Water Pollution Control representative told the board the pumps are a sole‑vendor item from BL Anderson and match the majority of existing pumps on site. The presenter cited Indiana Code 5‑22‑10‑5, which authorizes the purchasing agent to make a special purchase when there is a unique opportunity or sole vendor, and said the purchase would save a substantial amount compared with the total bid project.

A board member moved to approve the request for the Dewey Street Lift Station Project (Division 4 Part 1) as requested by Superintendent Paschal; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. When the chair asked whether funds were available, the presenter confirmed they were.

Staff said the pumps match existing equipment on site and that BL Anderson is the sole vendor for the required pumps. The board approved the purchase and directed staff to proceed with procurement consistent with the special‑purchase finding.
