A&P Commission reappoints Elvis Moya as chair, discusses vacancy after Commissioner Sanderson announces departure

The Fayetteville Advertising & Promotions Commission confirmed leadership and staffing changes during its Jan. 26 meeting. Commissioners reappointed Elvis Moya to another term and affirmed his continuation as chair for 2026.

Commissioner Chrissy Sanderson announced she will step down in March after nine years of service. The commission discussed the vacancy process: the city clerk will post the industry‑position opening, applications will follow standard city procedures, a subcommittee will interview finalists, and the commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council for appointment or ratification.

Commissioner Whitaker described three finalists the nominating subcommittee had interviewed for an open seat: Corey Stanton (small business owner/bakery), Kerry Lingenfelter (youth sports organization experience) and incumbent Elvis Moya. The nominating committee recommended reappointment of Moya and commissioners approved the recommendation by voice vote.

CEO Ryan reminded commissioners the industry seat requires the appointee to be an owner or manager of a hotel, motel or restaurant — a role tied to HMR tax collection.
