Superintendent Parisi announces move to Brookfield; Dan Diaz to take interim role for budget season

Chair announced that Superintendent Parisi has accepted the superintendent position in Brookfield and that tonight may be his last Newington meeting. Members offered public thanks and personal remarks recognizing Parisi's leadership and policy work. "You've done a lot for the district," the chair said, thanking Parisi for his service.

The board indicated that Dan Diaz will take over responsibilities for the budget season and named interim assignments: Mr. Turillo will assume principal duties at Wallace on an interim basis. Diaz acknowledged the appointment, called it an honor and said he looks forward to working with the board.

Board members used the remarks period to express appreciation and to flag retention and counter-offer strategies for central-office leaders; one member suggested creating a subcommittee to examine retention packages going forward. The board noted the timing will require continuity through the budget cycle next week.
