Old Town Local Advisory Committee approves minutes, defers chair selection and hears community updates

The Old Town Local Advisory Committee opened its meeting, approved the consent calendar minutes from Oct. 23, 2025 by a 3–0 roll call vote and agreed to postpone election of the 2026 chair and vice chair until April to allow a full committee attendance.

"I move that we approve those minutes of, 10/23/2025," a member said; another seconded the motion and the minutes passed 3–0. Later, after discussion of quorum and member availability, a motion to continue the chair and vice chair selection to April was moved and approved 3–0.

Advisory reports included a Historical Society update on an Oregon‑California Trails Association symposium Feb. 3 and a Feb. 4 caravan tracing portions of the Butterfield Overland Trail; the Historical Society also praised recent collaboration with city staff on design elements for a new apartment complex at a historic train turntable site.

A Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce representative said the chamber celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and plans a March 28 awards gala at Pechanga; the chamber also plans to partner with the city for the mayor's State of the City address on May 28. The Old Town Temecula Association summarized successful December holiday activities and noted continued parking conversations.

Public works staff provided a brief update on the Mercedes Street sidewalk project, describing preliminary design work and a tentative construction schedule targeted for next spring. Community services staff said there are no planned road closures before April 25 and described canceled and rescheduled holiday events.
