Trustees discussed several proposed 2026–27 calendar options before voting unanimously to adopt "Version 2," which sets a superintendent conference day on Sept. 1 and schedules the first student day for Sept. 2. The motion also preserves the district’s tradition of the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off and seeks to protect a four‑day Memorial Day weekend by using remote learning if a second snow day falls in April.
Board members weighed the tradeoffs between starting before or after Labor Day, alignment with BOCES schedules and athletic reporting deadlines, and the effects of snow‑day makeup rules. Trustee speaker 2 said Version 2 "still gives us 2 traditional snow days and leave us with a 3 day lingering rain" and recommended the calendar after reviewing multiple iterations produced by staff member Ken Packard. The chair moved the motion; Trustee Lindsey made the motion and Trustee Matt seconded. The board voted unanimously in favor.
Administration said the adopted calendar aims to balance tradition, athletics schedules and state minimums for instructional days; trustees were told that if the district exceeds allotted snow‑day allowances it would convert days to remote instruction as needed to meet the state minimum requirement for school days.
The vote concludes the board’s selection of a 2026–27 calendar; the board will communicate the calendar details to families through district channels.
