The Murray City Council voted 5–0 to adopt an ordinance amending the FY25–26 budget and concurrently approved a subrecipient agreement to accept $400,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from Salt Lake County to replace the Senior Recreation Center roof.
Brenda Moore, presenting the budget amendment, described the packet as the second of possibly four amendments and said most items were grant-funded roll-forwards and new grants. "The biggest one is $400,000 from the CDBG for the senior center roof," Moore said. She also listed other grant items on the amendment, including a $150,000 UDOT TAP grant for sidewalks and a $40,000 Division of Forestry grant for Jordan Parkway lighting.
Jeff Martin, who presented the subrecipient agreement for the CDBG funds, said the award will cover the roof replacement, fascia and soffit repairs and will not require additional city funds. "We're hoping that you will accept the $400,000 from the federal government," he said.
The council opened the public hearing on the budget amendment; no members of the public spoke. Councilmember Carter moved to adopt the ordinance amending the budget and Councilmember Turner seconded; the roll call vote was 5–0. The separate resolution accepting the CDBG funds for the Senior Center roof was then moved and passed 5–0.
Staff did not provide a full project schedule in the hearing; follow-up materials were not supplied during the meeting but staff indicated they will proceed with the subrecipient agreement and project planning.
