Chula Vista board approves two senior administrators

The Chula Vista school board unanimously approved two senior administrative hires during a special meeting, appointing María Montgomery as executive director of support services and curriculum and Paula Madrigal Patel as senior director of student services. The board moved and seconded the appointments and recorded no abstentions.

Superintendent Reyes introduced Montgomery, who told the board she was “honored” and eager to work with schools, leaders and educators across the district. Montgomery said she is “looking forward to leadership and collaboration” to support students and staff.

Board members did not debate the hires at length on the record. The approvals followed the board’s routine consent and personnel procedures under the Government Code sections the chair read at the start of the meeting.

The appointments take effect subject to any standard district onboarding procedures. The board then opened the floor for public comment and candidate interviews for upcoming provisional board vacancies.
