U.S. Rep. Bill Foster appeared at the Aurora City Council meeting on Nov. 26 to announce two federal contributions totaling $1,900,000 for local water projects.
Foster said the funds will support a combined storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure project and a separate program to replace lead service lines, calling safe drinking water and functional infrastructure "nothing more important." He credited city staff — specifically naming a staff member involved in grant preparation — and said the grants are part of ongoing collaboration among federal, state and local partners.
Foster described bringing the federal resources to projects that demonstrably serve the community and praised the city’s application work. City officials on the dais thanked the congressman and posed for photographs with the federal representatives and local staff.
City staff said the grants will be matched with city and state resources as part of broader infrastructure work; detailed project schedules and implementation steps were not read into the record at the meeting.
