Board raises CBPU sponsorship to $7,000 for Tibbets summer theater

The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities voted to increase its sponsorship of Tibbets summer theater, approving a move to the director level that brings the utility’s total contribution to $7,000 for the season.

Christine, speaking for Tibbets, outlined the proposal and emphasized the role sponsorships play in making summer theater possible. “The sponsorship amount is $6,000,” she said while requesting the board consider increasing the utility’s membership level from $500 to $1,000 and supporting an overall sponsorship package of $7,000. She described the chosen show, The Marvelous Wonderettes, as a “toe‑tapping” production with familiar music from the 1950s and 1960s.

Board members asked about the utility’s current giving level and past contributions; one member noted the utility had been at a higher level previously and that inflation has increased production costs. A motion to sponsor the show at the director level (increasing the utility’s contribution) was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.

The board’s action directs staff to process the sponsorship and record the payment in the utility’s financials.
