Council directs staff to fold Phase 1 community-development amendments into Envision Bonney Lake plan

The Bonney Lake City Council on May 14 adopted Motion M24-47, directing staff to incorporate proposed community development Phase 1 amendments into the final Envision Bonney Lake plan.

Council members praised the work of planning staff and emphasized that the document is a broad guidance framework rather than a parcel-by-parcel prescription. At least one councilmember highlighted protections for property owners and asked about how residents could raise concerns; staff explained legislative proposals will go through planning commission public hearings or development-specific public notice depending on scale and scope.

The motion was moved, seconded, and approved by voice vote. Council members noted the comp‑plan process is extensive and will continue to be developed with public input and staff support, including a referenced upcoming water-treatment tour and additional workshops.
