Roosevelt Elementary School was honored as a Blue Ribbon School by the New Jersey Department of Education, the Lodi superintendent announced at the Jan. 21 Lodi Board of Education meeting. Principal Jack Lipari and several teachers and staff were called to the podium to accept recognition and a district token of appreciation.
The superintendent said Roosevelt was one of only a small number of New Jersey schools recognized and singled out the school for both "overall academic excellence" and "significant progress in closing the achievement gaps," crediting staff, students and families for the accomplishment. "We congratulate Mr. Lipari and the entire staff, students, and school community at Roosevelt on this remarkable achievement," the superintendent said during the presentation.
Board members and district administrators presented certificates and, for new trustees, a crystal award as part of the evening’s recognitions. The gathering concluded with a brief photo opportunity for staff and board members. The superintendent noted that the Blue Ribbon status reflects a collective effort and that the district will share the recognition through district channels.
No formal action or budget decision accompanied the recognition; the item was presented as part of the superintendent’s report and ceremonial acknowledgments. The district indicated it will continue to feature the Blue Ribbon designation in school and district communications.
