Council tables 211 Patterson rezoning, directs administration to work with neighborhood

The Ogden City Council voted on Jan. 20, 2026 to postpone final action on a rezoning request for 211 Patterson, directing city administration to continue community engagement and to work with neighborhood residents to develop mitigation measures and a neighborhood improvement plan.

Administration representative Mr. Simpson presented background on the rezoning and explained that even if a zoning change is adopted, a conditional-use review and the planning commission’s site-plan process would still be required for any multifamily development of more than eight units. Councilmember Lopez moved to postpone the decision to Feb. 3 and to direct staff to collaborate with neighborhood residents; the motion was seconded and the council agreed to table the item to Feb. 3.

Mr. Simpson emphasized that the rezoning would allow consideration of five uses rather than four and that any project proposing more than eight units would require conditional-use permitting and planning-commission review, which includes public notice and opportunity to comment.

The postponement gives staff time to develop recommended mitigation measures and to reconvene with community members so the planning commission and council have neighborhood input before final action.
